The Seacoast Botany Company combines the study of our unique plant world with botanical preservation techniques and artistic concepts of design.
Seaweeds are collected and identified along the coast of Maine. Through a careful underwater process of trimming and mounting, the seaweed is pressed flat in an old fashion plant press, then matted and framed in custom maple, cherry, or mahogany frames. The end result is an original and actual pressed seaweed. Limited edition Giclee prints are available on selected pieces.
This art, in its simplicity, represents the living and breathing world of species. It captures the wild and unnoticed to reveal the beauty of a natural design many people never see.
